LET'S GET REAL
With our game completed or about 90% of the way there, it may seem moot to design document it. But if we go ahead with our Plan B on this project, it would mean a tremendous sacrifice converting the Unity version into full HTML, but it may grant us the ability to complete the game in full even as a demo version.
DIRECTION
The game is meant to simulate being in a space battle. it's like Risk but in space.
MOOD
Futurism with a side of Star Wars and Macross.

PLANET ARCHIVE
NO PRIORITY
MULTIPLAYER MAP
The Star Map is the main screen where the player will spend most of their time. It shows the galaxy and all the planets in it. The player can click on a planet to see more information about it, or they can click on a ship to move it to another planet.
MULTIPLAYER LOBBY
The Multiplayer Lobby is where players can join games, chat with other players, and set up custom games. It is the main hub for multiplayer activities.
Diplomat
The diplomat is a special unit that can be used to negotiate with other planets. They can be used to form alliances, trade resources, and gather information. Their chances of success can depend on the proportion of military units in comparison to the planet they're negotiating from.
While unclear the cost of diplomat and what it would take to replace once lost, the diplomat can be a high-risk high-reward unit.
Advisor
The Advisor is a special unit that can be used to give advice to the player. They can provide information about the current state of the galaxy, suggest strategies, and warn the player of impending threats.
The advisor can send messages the player can accept or ignore. It's unclear if players can choose whom they want their advisor to be, but in context of priority, options to choose are a low priority.
Assassin
The Assassin is a special unit that can be used to gather deep information about enemy planets. They can be used to create a coup.
The spy can be a high-risk high-reward unit. If players fail, it should create massive consequences, both in losses given the expense of an assassin as well as the aggressiveness of the world where it came from if discovered.
Population Mood
The population mood is a measure of how happy the population of a planet is. It can be affected by various factors such as war, famine, and natural disasters. A happy population will produce more resources and be more willing to fight for the player or more resistant to coups and espionage.
Develop Planet Menu
The Develop Planet Menu is where the player can spend resources to improve their planets. They can build new structures and upgrade existing ones. The main goal is to be able to upgrade economy, industry, mining, or military in order to potentially increase production as well as upgrade a primitive planet to a more advanced one.
Develop Units Menu
In this menu, players can upgrade ships, ground troops, tanks, and mechs. This might also help with spy satellites, drop ships, and more so that they become more efficient or increase in capacity.
The cost of upgrading units is unclear, but it should be a high priority to determine the cost of upgrading units and what it would take to replace them once lost. Also, the time it takes to build them can be a different factor. Lastly, we can consider 3-tier upgrades such as improved shields for ships, speed, and firepower for weapons. We can also think about EMP for planets as an attack from drones, but make it expensive and require three of them to make it happen.
It would be cool if once set up, an advisor can let players know "your drones are in position for an EMP strike. Shall we proceed your highness?".
